| What is USB Plug & Go?
|
| |
USB Plug & Go is a
new 'self-install' process which makes it cheaper and
more convenient to get a broadband (ADSL) line installed.
In particular, it enables broadband to be installed
without requiring an installation visit from an engineer,
but also it gives more flexibility over the location
of the ADSL line within the home or office.
LCBroadband has launched two new self-install broadband
products - Home 500 USB and Biz 500 USB. We remotely
convert the phone line to ADSL and post all the necessary
equipment (i.e. ADSL modem and 2 ADSL filters) and software
CD ROM for the customer to use or install on their own
PC or Mac (which must meet minimum specifications) to
the customer. The customer then installs the hardware
and software himself - this makes broadband installation
more convenient and cheaper for customers. |

| What is the USB Plug & Go
ordering process? |
| |
When you place an order
for the product we will agree a date with you for your
telephone line to be upgraded to broadband. This date
is known as your 'activation date' and is usually around
14 working days from you placing your order or clearance
of setup payments. Within these 14 days we test your
line remotely to ensure it can support broadband and
we will let you know the results via email.
If everything is ok, we will send you a 'Modem Pack'
containing an ADSL modem, two ADSL filters, software
and installation instructions. We will keep you informed
about the progress of your order by email. If there
is a hitch, we will contact you immediately.
On your activation date your line will be ready for
broadband use from 6pm onwards. On or after this date
you simply plug in your ADSL filters to your phone sockets,
connect up your ADSL modem and load the software on
to your computer following the instructions included.
Your billing will start one day after the activation
of your broadband line has taken place. |

| What is an ADSL modem and how
do I connect it? |
| |
An ADSL modem is a special
type of modem designed for use with high-speed broadband.
Standard 56k modems are not suitable for broadband as
they cannot support the high data speeds involved. You
plug it in between your computer and your ADSL-enabled
telephone socket which must also contain an ADSL filter.

 |
| What is an ADSL filter and how
do I connect it? |
| |
ADSL filters are small
adaptors you need to plug into each of your ADSL-enabled
phone sockets. They ensure clean separation of data
signals from voice signals - without them your voice
calls would suffer interference when data is being transmitted.
You will need one filter for each wall socket used by
a telephone or piece of ancilliary equipment such as
a fax machine, Digital TV, set-top box or anything which
shares the same line as your ADSL modem. Two filters
are supplied by LCBroadband as part of the ADSL equipment
pack (Home 500 USB and Biz 500 USB), and further filters
may be purchased by email click
here nclude credit card details or authorisation
to collect the payment from an existing Direct Debit
mandate. |
